This month I read fewer books than I was expecting. I am choosing to blame teachers assigning too much busy work, and last minute projects. Luckily I only have about two more weeks of school! Hopefully the start of the summer means a lot more books off the TBR (To Be Read). Without further ado, here are all of the books I read in May.
Educated by Tara Westover
Educated is a book that I started at the end of April, for English class. Now before you continue reading, I want you to rethink your idea of assigned books. Westover’s vulnerability throughout the book allows readers to connect to the story, even with Westover’s unique life. I love memoirs, because of the authors ability to transport readers, and make them care about stakes long gone. Westover is able to do this.
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
I am internally screaming! The plot twists in this series are so well done. Children of Virtue and Vengeance is the second book of the Legacy of Orisha trilogy, and is so well crafted. One of my favorite aspects of Adeyemi’s writing is that each character is so complex. The book switches point of view often, which allows readers to experience the story in different ways. The world building in the book is top notch, which only adds to complexity. I can not wait for the final book to come out!
